Cirrus Perception receives FAA approval
Cirrus Aircraft has received FAA approval for customers to install external cameras, sensors, and communications equipment on the Cirrus G5.
The equipment can be aimed at a variety of applications, including
- Aerial surveys
- Aerial photography
- Air sampling
- All-weather transport
- Disaster support
- Drug interdiction
- Geothermic surveys
- Military pilot training
- Pipeline patrol
- Traffic enforcement and studies
- VIP or prisoner transport
The program was first announced in July 2014 and was known as “Cirrus Perception”.
The G5 can now carry sensors that have become smaller and lighter and could originally only be carried by larger turbine-powered aircraft. The approval was made under the existing SR22 type certificate.
